Day excursion @ BaruaSagar

BaruaSagar is a municipal board in Jhansi District of Uttar Pradesh. It was named so because of the big beautiful lake called BaruaSagar Tal. The town was established by Maharaja Udit Singh of Orchha about 260 years ago.
BaruaSagar has lots of historical monuments from the period of 800 A.D. to 1700 A.D.. 
Places to visit in BaruaSagar

Jarai Ka Math: Jarai-ka-Math was Built during the reign of the Pratiharas. The temple dates backs to approximately 860 AD, this red sandstone temple is a pancharata shrine of the Panchayatan type, in which the main temple is surrounded by four subsidiary shrines at the four corners. Declared a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India in 1928, 
The temple is an excellent example of early Pratihara architecture. The temple is dedicated to Devi (Amba or Durga) whose multifarious forms are represented in the profusely carved sculptures along the temple walls. Erotic sculptures, akin to those at Khajuraho, also grace the Jarai-ka-Math.


BaruaSagar Fort: Barua Sagar Fort is a historical monument in Barua Sagar. This fort is located at a great height and gives an excellent view of Barua Sagar Lake. It is situated on the top of a hill. Archaeological Survey of Uttar Praddesh had restored the fort.picturesquely situated on an eminence, commands an excellent view of the lake and surrounding landscape.
BaruaSagar is the historical spot where the battle between the Peshwa’s trops and the Bundelas was fought in 1744.
Ghughua Math Temple: To the north-east side of the lake and at the boundary of the fort are ruins of two old Chandela Temples Built of granite. The older one is known as Ghughua Math.


BaruaSagar Lake: A Large lake formed about 260 Years ago, where an embankment was erected by Raja Udit Singh of Orchha. The embankment structure is unique example of architecture and engineering.

Deogarh in Monsoon 

 

One of the best places to trek in Bundelkhand Region - Deogarh

 

Deogarh is is a small farming village near the town of Lalitpur in Lalitpur district, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Located at the border with the former princely state of Gwalior, which is now part of Madhya Pradesh, it is known for its Gupta monuments, located on and near the hill fort on the right bank of the Betwa River. A number of ancient monuments of Hindu and Jain origins are found within and outside the walls of the fort.

 

Height: At an average elevation of 211 meters (692 ft)

 

Area: The village is spread over an area of 5 square kilometers (1.9 sq mi)

 

During monsoon rainfall is heavy and it provides a different charm: The climate after the rains is very pleasant.

 

About our trek: We will stay in Jain Dharmashala Only vegetarian food (typical Jain food) will be arranged by the Dharmashala.

 

Day 1 (Saturday)

 

Leave by Train No 51812 Jhansi Bina Passenger which will depart from Jhansi Railway station at 7.35 am

 

10 am:  Reach Jakhlaun Railway Station 

10:30 am: Local transport to Deogarh village 

11am: Reach Deogarh village and check into Jain Dharmashala 


11:30am: Fresh Up and Tea

 

12:30pm: Trek to Dashavatar Temple

 

2pm: Back to Dharmshala, Lunch and get some rest  

 

4pm: Trek to Mahaveer Swami Sanctuary and Deogarh Village

 

6pm: rest at pond near to Dharmshala

 

7pm: Reach Dharmshala,

 

8pm: Dinner, Chat up and Sleep

 

Day 2 (Sunday)

 

5 am: Wake Up Call 

5:30 am: Start Trek in forest (Total 4 km) 

7:30 am: Get back to Dharmshala, freshen up and have breakfast 

9:30 am: Trek to Jain Temples Fort Campus, Varah Temple, Raj Ghati, Nahar Ghati, Siddh ki Gufa, View Point (Total trek 7-8 kms) 

12:30pm: Back to Dharmshala, Lunch and get some rest.

 

3:00pm: Local transport to Jakhlaun Railway Station

 

3:55pm: Train No 51811 Jhansi Bina Passenger to Jhansi 

 

7pm: Reach Jhansi Railway Station

 

Amount payable: Rs.1250/- (Includes travel, accommodation and food.)
